Maybe. It depends on whether it checks permissions before running an action, sanitizes what a user submits, and escapes what it outputs. Those are exactly the things we check, and they are the parts AI tends to skip unless explicitly told to include them.
What is vibe coding, and is it a problem for WordPress?
Vibe coding is building by describing what you want to an AI and accepting what it produces without reading it closely. It is fine for a throwaway experiment. It becomes a problem the moment that code runs on a live site handling real customer data or payments.
Can you tell the code was written by AI?
Usually, from patterns like generic variable names, missing security checks and comments that describe what the code does rather than why. It does not change how we review it: the same checklist applies to AI code, freelancer code and our own.
